About the Program
The Menominee Landfill program is operated in Menominee, Michigan, by WM. The team at Menominee Landfill oversees a 1,400-acre landfill in the western upper peninsula of Michigan, close to Lake Michigan. The site contains 43 acres of wetland, which was restored to create a wildlife habitat, along with an observation area.
Practices and Impacts
- The team monitors nest boxes to encourage the breeding of cavity-nesting species in the area. The boxes were originally installed in 2009. Some were repaired in 2019, and four were replaced in 2022.
