Bats Deserve the Spotlight: How Film is Amplifying Bat Conservation

Join us for a special Bat Week webinar event featuring exclusive previews of two compelling new films that explore the wonder, challenges, and hope surrounding bat conservation. 

In this interactive session, you’ll hear from the filmmakers and scientists behind Bat Boy and The Invisible Mammal, two powerful stories that shine a light on bats’ critical role in our ecosystems and the people working to protect them. Bat Boy follows Andre, a young man whose fascination with local bats sparks an unexpected journey, while The Invisible Mammal dives into the fight to save North American bat species from white-nose syndrome, offering a unique perspective on conservation science and the stories that follow along with it. 

In addition to the film previews, you’ll hear directly from the creative teams and scientists who helped shape these projects, including Aaron Lemle and Joey Curti, Ph.D. (Bat Boy), and Holly Mosher and Matthew Podolsky (The Invisible Mammal). They will share insights into the filmmaking process, the science behind the stories, and what each of us can do to support bat conservation in our own communities. 

The session will conclude with a brief Q&A, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and connect with the film directors and scientists.
